"I like this. There's more blood and guts here than in the majority of live+electronics performances, unlike many that often come from the electroacoustic labs at university (being a maxMSP, Pd, and Supercollider enthusiast, I've heard my share). Notwithstanding whatever he did post- in the editing room, he retained (or perhaps even accentuated) the sense of it being live, extemporaneous. Many of Massimo's treatments here are very simple techniques but he achieved real musical results with them. There's not a cheap, gratuitous gesture in this entire set of four pieces, and there are plenty of gestures to pick from given that this is not a "lowercase" or drone-drenched affair. "
